WHEN JANE AND LUCAS GO FOR A WALK…
JANE - Hi Lucas.
LUCAS - Hi! Jane!
JANE –Do French people kiss every time they see each other ? I think it’s really funny.
L – Of course, it’s a tradition here. Don’t you do that in England ?
JANE - No, not really. We only kiss members of our family and really good friends. But we don’t kiss people every time we meet, only when we haven’t seen each other for a while. In France, you kiss all the time !
L – In my family, we kiss each person on the cheek four times! When my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins get together, we can spend fifteen minutes just giving everyone a kiss ! By the way, what did you think of the party last night ?
JANE – I really enjoyed it. It was great !
L – Yeah, it was great fun! I’m really glad you came. I can’t believe we’ve only known each other for one day.
JANE – Yes, I know what you mean. I feel like I’ve known you for years !
L – I’m really glad we met … You’re a really nice person. Are all English girls like you ?
JANE – I don’t know. You’re really nice too.
L – Have you got a boyfriend in England ?
JANE – No, I haven’t. What about you ? Have you got a girlfriend back in Toulouse ?
L – No, to tell the truth, I don’t have time. I’ve got loads of school work in the evening, and at the weekend, I hang out with my friends. We do a lot of sport. I play basketball and football.
JANE – So, you don’t want a girlfriend, then ?
L – No, well yes. Actually, I haven’t really met any nice girls. The girls at my school are just good friends, and I can’t imagine going out with any of them.
JANE – Oh. Why’s that ?
L – Because they are not as nice as you. Or as pretty. It’s a real shame you don’t live here.
JANE – Why’s that ?
L – Because I’d ask you to be my girlfriend.
JANE – Don’t be silly, you’re making me go red.
L – No, I’m not joking. I think you’re beautiful. You’ve got beautiful eyes, and you’ve got a lovely smile.
JANE – Now I really am red ! I blush very easily. I’m not surprised why French people have a reputation for being romantic !
L – You know, we’ve only got five days together before you go back to England.
JANE – And we’ve only got five days before you leave for Toulouse. It’s really sad isn’t it ?
L – Exactly. That’s why I think we should make the most of our time together. Come on, let’s go for a long walk along the beach. But before we go, can I give you a kiss…?
