Chapter 5
WHEN JANE AND LUCAS MAKE UP…

LUCAS - –Jane, I’ve been looking for you everywhere. I came to your hotel yesterday and they told me you were out all day. I need to talk to you.
JANE –We’ve got nothing to talk about ! I said everything I had to say yesterday.
L –But Jane, it’s our last day today. Tomorrow I go back to Toulouse, and I might never see you again.
JANE –Good ! I hope I never see you again !
L –But Jane, you don’t mean that.
JANE –Yes, I do.
L –Look, the girl you were talking about. She’s not my girlfriend. I met her at the beginning of the holidays.
JANE –So you meet lots of girls on holiday, then do you ?
L –Jane, let me finish my sentence. My parents met her parents at the beach one day. So they invited them and their daughter for dinner at our hotel. That’s how I met her. She’s a very nice girl.
JANE –I’m sure she is. I don’t want to hear any more.
L –But Jane, she’s already got a boyfriend. Yesterday, when you saw us, well, she was giving me a kiss goodbye. Her and her parents left yesterday afternoon. They went back to Paris. She was really pleased to be going back home because it meant she could see her boyfriend.
JANE –Yes, I’m sure you’re lying again.
L –Look Jane, I’m not lying. I’m so pleased to see you again. I was really sad yesterday. Please say you believe me. I’ve had such an excellent week with you. I’ve never felt like this about a girl before.
JANE
–Hmmm.
L – I promise you. I don’t know how to prove it to you. It’s just a total misunderstanding.
JANE –Really ?
L - Yes, really.
JANE - Well, I’m really pleased to see you again too.
L - Are you ?
JANE –Yes. I’m sorry if I reacted so badly. It was such a shock to see you with another girl that I imagined the worst.
L –Look, I think we should spend our last day together. Let’s spend the day on the beach.
JANE –What time do you leave tomorrow?
L –Very early in the morning. We will have to say goodbye tonight because Dad wants to leave at five in the morning.
JANE –Tonight! I don’t want you to leave!
L –I don’t want to leave either, but we don’t have the choice!
JANE –No we don’t. I don’t want to go back to England, either. I don’t know what I will do without you.
L –I’ll be really sad to you leave you, too. But listen, I’m sure you can come and visit me during the next holidays. Maybe you can come over for Christmas.
JANE –You can come to England too. Remember, you have to taste some delicious English food. Mince pies, Christmas pudding and Christmas cake.
L –Of course. But I think you should visit me in Toulouse first, and try some fresh seafood. I’m sure once you’ve tasted my Mum’s cooking, you’ll love it.
JANE – I’ll write to you as often as I can. Promise me you’ll write too.
L- Of course. I’ve got your home address, but it will be easier to write to you by e-mail.
JANE –Yeah. We can chat on Messenger too. It’s much more fun.
